{Early Bird Sale still going on}

Published about 2 years ago • 2 min read

Good morning Reader,

We are heading out to do the morning chores in a few moments but since the thermometer is reading -25, I thought I would sip on my warm coffee a little longer and send an email about our Early bird lamb sale.

We think sheep are powerful.

They turn green grasses and forbes into community resilience.

It's so nice to imagine those warm grasses and forbes on a frigid day like today.

Did you know in the first year we planned on starting our sheep and lamb enterprise, we finished and sold 25 whole lambs?

In our second year, we finished 40 whole lambs –and yes, we still have more cuts to sell – but I have no doubt we will.

And this is our third year getting set up to raise and finish regeneratively pastured lambs to our local community.

In our first year – people put their faith in us that our lamb would meet their expectations.

Maybe this is because they felt like they could trust us after tasting our chicken and eggs – and could believe in us.

After that first year many people told their family and friends and neighbors about our lamb – and we were able to double the amount of lamb we grew.

This is the really cool thing:

People who never liked lamb – love our lamb

People who love the convenience of direct delivery to their door with a smile – love our lamb

People who want to support regenerative agriculture in Maine – want to see more carbon sinking into the ground – love our lamb

People who love supporting local farms and building a resilient local economy - love our lamb

And the wonderful bonus – is it tastes amazing.

Don’t take our word for it – Listen to what Martin from Bangor says

“Happy Holidays and New Year.
I made Rack of Lamb for Christmas Dinner. Best Lamb Ever! Sign us up for next year. Ever plan on raising Pigs?”

Did you know most farmers do not think growing and finishing lamb is a profitable business and go out of business only after a few years?

We were told by a wise shepherd – who has been raising lamb in Maine for many years. That most farmers can’t finish and sell more than 50 whole lambs in a year.

I read a statistic the other day that as a country we only produce 10% of the lambs we consume – this means that 9 out of 10 lamb dishes come mostly from Australia and New Zealand. Is that crazy?

Honestly – our vision is to blow that number out of the water.

Our impossible goal/vision is to Regeneratively raise and finish 3000 lambs each year.

And it’s all because of you. You are helping us lead the way in Regenerative agriculture in Maine.

So, this year – as our third year raising and finishing lambs on pasture with regenerative management – will you help us blow that 50 number out of the water?

Do you think we can get finish 80 lambs this year?

Do you think we can do it?

The more lambs we get here – the more IMPACT we can affect. The more soil building – biodiversity increasing - community building and family nutrient dense dinners we can affect.

Thank you for all that you do – and thank you for sharing and supporting our farm.

We would never be able to do this without you.

So happy to see dad come home- Farmer Nick- after a long delivery day!

With care and gratitude your farmers,

Sarah Mahan & Nick Jackson

P.S. The early bird sale will be over on Jan 31st! So spread the word! You can just forward this email to someone you know who loves lamb.

Hello friends and farm family, It is with love in our hearts and tears in our eyes that we have some news that may seem shocking. We have been on a regenerative journey for many years here in Maine. And now we will be moving to where regenerative agriculture is really needed. We are going to miss you!!! Our family is moving and our regenerative journey is taking us out west to a more brittle environment to do what we love the most grazing ruminates. We can't say this enough - so we are going...
